The Great Amaryllis Experiment…part 3

29 Mar

So…I’ve fallen down a bit on my reporting, but here’s the up-to-the-minute story!

I won't put in the pictures from every day...but here's proof that the slow bulb is finally catching up! (Not that you can see the tall one...but Lucy was having fun!)

It's ALIVE!

So the oldest bulb is growing the fastest and has two stems...the newest just has one stem...but at least it's finally growing!

Shorty...coming in at 4 inches!

5.5! One and a half inches on that day!

10 inches.

Eleven inches...

More than 1.5 inches in one day.

Okay, seriously! About 4 inches in one day! Shorty is finally catching up for real. This bulb, with only one stem, looks like it will be a larger flower - the other two buds on the other bulb are smaller.

Almost to its full height...

This one will have leaves! The faster-growing one doesn't have any yet.

Exciting!!!!

So, shorty has almost caught up and might even surpass the other one!!

Almost there!!!

This is how they look as of Wednesday. So fun!

Four inches of growth in one day is incredible. Just wait until your kids become teens and you’ll wonder if they grow four inches in a day. Look forward to seeing the amaryllis in bloom. I bet this is the first thing Lucy checks every morning.

It definitely is amongst the first things she does! I might have to move the flowers in order to photograph them best…it’s just so fun to see the progress – and yes, 4 inches must be a record – for our measurements, at least it is!

Wow. Plants are amazing, especially when we can see the growth in stages and details.

I know – isn’t it cool? I don’t think my 5 year old really got that 4 inches is amazing!

I cannot believe how quickly these have grown since you last showed images of them. It doesn’t seem possible. You must almost be able to sit and watch them grow. Looking forward to seeing the blooms xx

They’re amazing, aren’t they? I don’t think I’d ever had one grow four inches in one day before! I think that the short one had to catch up…it must have felt the pressure!
